The American Jewish Historical Society
The oldest national ethnic historical organization in the United States. The Society’s library, archives, photograph, and art and artifacts collections document the American Jewish experience.

Arizona Jewish Historical Society

Dedicated to appreciation and awareness of the Arizona and Southwestern Jewish experience, and the preservation of a record of Jewish contributions to Arizona's political, economic, social and cultural development.



Shema Arizona

Adding a Jewish voice to Arizona's history. Shema (sheMA) means "hear" in Hebrew. With this site you can hear some of Arizona's Jewish history. Includes sixty-three oral histories (and full transcripts) conducted by the Arizona Jewish Historical Society provide a valuable and unique resource for understanding how American Jews in the early 20th century pulled up roots, continued a tradition of migration, and became western Jews.



The Jewish Museum

In 2004, the museum celebrated its Centennial year. The Jewish Museum is an art museum exploring Jewish culture. It is both a source of inspiration and knowledge for an audience of visitors of all cultural backgrounds, and a special touchstone of identity for a diverse population of Jewish people. As we begin the Museum's second century, we invite you to a "virtual" exploration of an institution in which past and present meet to pose questions and foster dialogue about the future.



Jewish Historical Society of Southern California

Preserve and create awareness of local Jewish history while reaching out to the larger community. The Society conducts tours to sites of Jewish historical interest in the Los Angeles area, maintains an archive of community records, and helps produce film series, lectures, exhibits, publications, and oral histories.




New Mexico Jewish Historical Society
Organized in 1985 to pursue the fascinating and often amazing story of the Jews of New Mexico. The Society leads the Southwest in research, archive development, genealogy, oral history, and publishing. Our efforts are focused on following the path from the 1600's when Sephardic Jews lived in secret to European Jews who moved to America and transformed the landscape of social and economic life in theTerritory of New Mexico. Offering workshops, lecture programs, concerts and audio-visual presentations, the Society organizes monthly programs for its membership.


Southern Jewish Historical Society
Jewish experience in the American South from the Colonial period, through the Civil War to the present. The Southern Jewish Historical Society includes members from all religions and backgrounds.


Lower East Side Tenement Museum
The heart of the Lower East Side Tenement Museum is its landmark tenement building, home to 7,000 people from 20 nations between 1863 and 1935. Visitors to the Museum tour the cramped living spaces and learn about the lives of past residents: a German Jewish family (1870s), an Eastern European Orthodox Jewish family (1918), and an Italian Catholic family (1930s).

Texas Jewish Historical Society

The purpose of the Society shall be to collect, preserve, publish and disseminate materials having reference to the settlement and history of Jews in Texas and their participation in its social, economic, religious, political, professional and cultural growth. Jewish Historical Society of England

The society, the oldest historical and learned society of its kind in Europe, was founded in 1893 by the foremost Anglo-Jewish scholars and communal leaders of the day. Past presidents have included Lucien Wolf, F.D. Mocatta, Israel Zangwill, Cecil Roth and Sir Isaiah Berlin. The society, based in London, has active branches in Birmingham, Essex, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.




Historical Society of Jews From Egypt
This organization shall be known as HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF JEWS FROM EGYPT, and not of Egypt or of Egyptian Jews, but FROM EGYPT for the purpose will be to include all our co-religionists whose lineage have sojourned in the Jewish Communities of Egypt.
The aims of this society are to preserve, maintain, coordinate the implementation, and to convey our rich heritage to our children and grand children's, using all educational means at our disposal to bring into being the necessary foundations.
